Military operation
A military operation is an operation that encompasses the use of military capabilities across the range of military operations short of war. Military actions can complement any combination of the other instruments of national power and occur before, during, and after the war [Department of Defense Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms, p.277].
Military operations mean the movements, maneuvers, and actions of any sort carried out by the armed forces intending to combat. “The general close of military operations” is the same expression as that used in Article 6 of the Fourth Convention, which, according to the commentary thereon, may be deemed in principle to be at the time of a general armistice, capitulation or just when the occupation of the whole territory of a Party is completed, accompanied by the effective cessation of all hostilities, without the necessity of a legal instrument of any kind. Also, it is a set of simultaneous or sequential combat operations, battles, strikes, and maneuvers, as well as special, stabilization, cyber, and information actions (actions) of troops (forces), carried out by a single plan and planned to perform specific operational tasks in the operational area (region) in a specified time, under a single leadership [Енциклопедія Сучасної України].
