Margin

A retreat is a tactical, operational, or strategic maneuver during the war in military affairs. Forced or planned abandonment of occupied positions by troops and withdrawal of troops to new positions in the depths of own or enemy territory. It is an important move and maneuvering to create a new group of troops and means for conducting subsequent military (combat) operations. Its purpose is to withdraw a military group from the enemy's attack, concentrate troops, strengthen an advantageous defensive position, or lure the enemy under attack[Margin]. The amount by which one thing is different from another: The Senate approved the use of military force by a margin of 52 votes to 47. The poll shows that the government is leading by the narrowest of margins. the profit made on a product or service:

Using cheap labor increases profit margin. If someone is on the margins of a group of people, they are part of that group but different in important ways, and if someone is on the margins of activity, they are only slightly involved:
