Communicative (Communication) situation
The term communicative situation refers to the elements intervening in the act of communication, namely, the issuer, the receptor, the message, the place, the time when the action occurs, etc.
The communicative situation is related to the particular place and moment in which all elements interact and interconnect. In flowing communication, the roles are continually interchanged: the person sending the first message becomes the receiver when he receives the response from the other subject, then re-occupies the sender's role, and so on.
There is always a purpose in the communicative situation. It means that the communication is permanently established for some purpose, for example, providing information or requesting an action from the interlocutor [WhatDoesMean.net].
A communicative situation is a complex of circumstances and conditions of communication. Generally, a communicative situation includes the following components: interlocutors, a subject/referent situation, a message, communicative channels, the potential for feedback, the chance of noise, place, and time [Studopedia].
Communication situations have five fundamental components:
Sender.
The sender is the message's creator in the communication situation (speaker, writer, lecturer, etc).
Message.
The message refers to the subject and purpose of the communication situation (inform, persuade, entertain).
Medium.
Medium is how the message is expressed (speech, email, ad, video, painting).
Receiver.
The receiver refers to an audience of the message in the communication situation (listener, reader, viewer).
Context.
The context refers to the place and time of the message (history, hurdles, opportunities) [Inquire].
