Combat Operations
Combat operations – 1. Organized action by units, tactical formations and major formations from various branches of the armed forces in carrying out their allotted (operational) missions. The main types of combat operation are defence and attack. They take the form of operations, large-scale battles, battles and strikes on land, in the air and at sea and the employment of both conventional weapons and weapons of mass destruction. The combat operations of each of the armed forces have unique characteristics. 2. A form of operational use of major and tactical formations of the armed forces as part of the operation or between operations, to achieve several successive operational, operational-tactical and tactical objectives.
