Adaptation

Adaptation is the action or process of changing something, or of being changed, to suit a new purpose or situation
Adaptation is the action or process of adapting or being adapted.

Simple processes with adaptation are carried out in automatic control systems, for example, adaptation of the autopilot to change of flight altitude. Adaptation is implemented in adaptive control systems, a special case of which are self-tuning systems. In pattern recognition, the problem of adaptation is related to learning and self-learning signal recognition.
