Global Positioning System (GPS)

A radio navigation system developed by the U.S. Department of Defense that
uses a constellation of 24 earth satellites, which are monitored by ground-based control
stations, to provide precise, continuous worldwide positioning and timing information .

The GPS is a series of 27 satellites, which spin around Earth in space. These satellites send radio signals to GPS receivers on Earth. In this way, the GPS satellites can track the movement of objects anywhere on the surface of our planet .
