Scope

Scope is the extent to which an identifier, such as an object or property, can be
referenced within a program.

Scope can be global to the application or local to the active document.
Second definition of scope is: the parts of the vision for the solution that can be accomplished within the constraints of a given version. Negotiating the scope of a project balances customer needs and desires against technological and business constraints.
