Psychological reorganization
Psychological reorganization is a process of restructuring existing psychological and cognitive patterns into a new and more integrated system. According to the reorganization principle, a system may reorganize itself when existing structures are no longer adequate for dealing with new experiences or conditions (American Psychological Association, 2018).
Psychological reorganization may also involve the modification of beliefs, interpretations, and patterns of thinking. In cognitive therapy, this process is associated with cognitive restructuring, through which maladaptive cognitions are identified, evaluated, and replaced with more adaptive ways of understanding oneself and the surrounding world (Clark, 2013)
