Emotional socialization

Emotional socialization within the framework of inclusive practices and accessibility operates as a dynamic, socioculturally anchored template. This phenomenon describes a "process of understanding and learning to manage emotions, as well as the feelings of others among children", which is critical for fostering "social competence" and eliminating environmental or communication barriers. It functions as a structured "process, involving a broad range of social verbal and embodied practices, through which caregivers mediate community-relevant ways of expressing and interpreting emotions". In terms of inclusive design, emotional socialization provides the groundwork for shaping "parental emotion socialization (ES)" and institutional frameworks that target "the development of emotion regulation", enabling individuals with diverse functional needs to navigate complex "socially responsive and consequential" interactions and achieve complete socio-emotional adjustment.
