Musculoskeletal impairment

Musculoskeletal impairment (MSI) is defined as a lack of normal structure or function, or an increase in pain or discomfort in the skin, muscles, bones, or joints of the body that has lasted for at least one month and limits the function of the musculoskeletal system. Musculoskeletal impairments may be congenital, traumatic, neurological, infective, or acquired and can significantly affect mobility, physical functioning, participation in daily activities, and quality of life.
