Cognitive Restructuring Therapy (CRT)
Cognitive restructuring therapy is a psychological intervention that focuses on identifying and modifying maladaptive thought patterns, cognitive distortions, and dysfunctional beliefs associated with emotional and behavioral difficulties (Emeh, Abewah & Otta, 2025). The approach encourages individuals to examine unhelpful patterns of thinking and replace them with more balanced and adaptive perspectives, supporting improved emotional regulation and everyday functioning (Emeh, Abewah, & Otta, 2025). Cognitive-behavioral approaches that address distorted thinking have also been described as helpful in reducing the impact of depression on thinking and daily life (Cartreine, 2016).
