Civic participation

Civic participation is the process through which citizens voluntarily engage in public, political, and community activities aimed at influencing decision-making, addressing collective concerns, and promoting the common good. It includes both individual and collective actions, such as voting, volunteering, participating in civic organizations, engaging in public deliberation, and contributing to community development. Civic participation is considered a key element of democratic governance because it facilitates citizen influence on public affairs, strengthens social capital, encourages civic responsibility, and enhances the accountability of public institutions .
