Mental Health

Welfare / Well-being

This is a multi-dimensional concept that integrates social and psychological dimensions to measure the true quality of human life, viewing well-being as a holistic ecosystem. Sociologically, it is defined through social cohesion, equity, and an individual's embeddedness in a supportive community, where a person's capability to thrive is essential (A. Sen).
Psychologically, well-being shifts from objective conditions to "Subjective Well-being" (SWB), which captures how people evaluate their own lives (E. Diener). It encompasses emotional balance (high positive and low negative affect) and cognitive life satisfaction. Thus, contemporary theory combines social integration and psychological health into a unified framework: true well-being is achieved through mental health, meaningful social connections, and personal fulfillment.
