Emotional Support in Times of Crisis
Emotional Support in Times of Crisis - is an evidence-informed framework and a multi-dimensional psychosocial process delivered via public health messaging, community outreach, clinical care, and tele-health , as well as through individual, group, family, and mutual interventions.
It is designed to address ubiquitous emotional distress , stabilize neurobiological and psychophysiological trauma reactions , reduce levels of anxiety and panic , challenge dysfunctional cognitions or catastrophic thinking , and prevent the escalation of long-term psychiatric conditions like PTSD or depression. The primary objective of this support is to foster a relative sense of safety and calming , enhance individual and collective coping self-efficacy , facilitate rapid reconnection with loved ones and attachment networks , and instill hope —ultimately strengthening human resilience and empowering survivors to safely regulate intense emotional states and transition back to normalcy.
