Group Therapy

Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves one or more therapists working with several people at the same time. This type of therapy is widely available at a variety of locations including private therapeutic practices, hospitals, mental health clinics, and community centers.
Group therapy is sometimes used alone, but it is also commonly integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan that also includes individual therapy.

Goal of Group Therapy:
Group therapy is used to treat a wide variety of conditions, including: Depression, Eating disorders, Generalized anxiety disorder, Panic disorder, Phobias
As you kind of “forcefully” have to relate with the members of the group and share experiences, you begin to discover things about yourself that you never knew. For instance, you may discover you can understand someone’s feelings better than others.
It is not uncommon to see counseling groups that are broken into subgroups and members of each subgroup are asked to look out for each other. They also serve as accountability partners to each other to ensure that they keep up with assignments, and do not return to stimulating environments or revisit bad habits.
