Postnatal depression

Postnatal depression is a complex combination of physiological, emotional and behavioral changes that occur in some women after childbirth. A condition called the “baby blues”, a state of maternal melancholy and despair, begins within the first few days after childbirth and can last up to two weeks. Postpartum depression, on the other hand, appears on average 4-6 weeks after childbirth. But it can manifest itself at any time after childbirth within a year. In addition, mothers in this state find it difficult to cope with their own needs and new responsibilities for the child. As a result, it can also negatively affect the growth and development of the child. However, this mental disorder of the mother is treatable with medication and counseling. In 90% of cases, medication therapy or a combination of medication and psychotherapy helps.
