Somatic symptoms of anxiety
Somatic symptoms of anxiety – is a natural response when you’re facing a real or perceived threat. It’s a feeling associated with your body’s stress reaction, also known as your “fight, flight, or freeze” response. However, when anxiety becomes persistent or recurrent, it may manifest with a variety of symptoms and could affect your quality of life.
The term “somatic” means “relating to the physical body” or “of the body.”
A person with SSD is not faking their symptoms. The pain and other problems are real. They may be caused by a medical problem. Often, no physical cause can be found. However, it is the extreme reaction and behaviors about the symptoms that are the main problem.
Unlike somatic symptom disorder, cognitive anxiety symptoms might include:
Depersonalisation;
Negative thoughts;
Fear and unease;
Concentration difficulties;
Panic attacks.
