Crisis social support

Many studies of social support and depression during the COVID-19 pandemic have relied on modest cross-sectional samples from specific populations (e.g., elderly, healthcare workers, students, pregnant individuals). These studies often focus on overall social support rather than examining subtypes such as tangible support (instrumental help), emotional support (listening or confiding ear), informational support (advice or knowledge), and positive social interactions. Work-related violence is a major issue in many sectors, especially in healthcare and human services. It is defined as “any action, incident, or behavior that departs from reasonable conduct in which a person is assaulted, threatened, harmed, or injured in the course of, or as a direct result of, their work” . Type II violence occurs when the perpetrator is a customer or client with a legitimate relationship with the workplace, such as patients and their families in healthcare settings.
