Psychoanalytic assessment

Psychoanalytic assessment – is an approach to understanding an individual's personality and psychological functioning based on the principles of psychoanalysis. It assumes that much of mental activity is unconscious and focuses on interpreting the unconscious meaning behind overt behavior. The assessment examines how unconscious forces, such as repressed impulses and childhood traumas, influence mental life and adjustment. By integrating psychoanalytic principles with various psychological methods, including projective tests like the Rorschach, it offers unique insights into personality dynamics, enhancing both research and clinical practice.
