Suicidal thoughts

Suicidal thoughts – Suicidal thoughts are commonly referred to as suicidal ideation (Silverman 2006), which is defined as self-reported thoughts of suicide and suiciderelated behaviours.(O’Carroll et al. 1996; Silverman et al. 2007a, 2007b). Beck and Steer (1993) point out further that suicidal ideation can include thoughts about reasons for dying, specific plans to make an attempt, consideration of the availability of the intended method.Tthey are emotionally painful because of self-injurious intentions. Suicidal thoughts can range from passing thoughts about death, such as wondering what it feels like to die or thinking, “What if I just went to sleep and didn’t wake up?” to specific plans about suicide, such as thinking about how and when you might end your life.
