Relaxation techniques

Relaxation techniques – are therapeutic exercises designed to assist individuals by decreasing tension and anxiety. Relaxation therapy has been a part of psychotherapy for ages; however, these techniques can be expanded to include diverse environments as complementary therapies to treat stress, anxiety, depression, and pain.
Relaxation doesn't have to take up lots of time. It can help to step away from something stressful for a few minutes. Or take a moment away from your normal routines and thoughts. Doing this can give you enough space and distance to feel calmer.
Relaxation techniques can help build up your ‘stress tolerance’. Stress tolerance builds up each time that you succeed at managing demands. This can help you cope better next time you feel stressed. As you get better at working through difficult situations, you become less likely to suffer from the effects of chronic stress.
