Confinement

Confinement refers to the state of being forced to stay within a specific location, such as a prison or another restricted area, with no permission to leave.
Confinement in military affairs can have several meanings depending on the context. The most common among them are pre-trial confinement and confinement in the context of prisoners of war.
Pre-trial confinement is physical restraint while awaiting trial or a hearing, it is often used in the military to make sure a service member does not try to avoid justice or make an existing situation worse. It can also be used to ensure unit readiness by removing a member who has committed an offense against another member or related acts.
In the context of prisoners of war, confinement refers to the restriction of movement and freedom experienced by military personnel captured during armed conflicts.
