Visual line of sight
Stands for visual line of sight. VLOS refers to UAV/drone operation where the vehicle must remain physically seen by operators. Generally, UAVs have been allowed to be used under VLOS only for safety reasons, however, BVLOS is an extension of use over VLOS.
Generally, UAVs have been allowed to be used under VLOS (visual line of sight) only for safety reasons.
There’s an extension called BVLOS. It is an extension of use over VLOS and relies on applicable aviation certification for the applicable region as well as airworthiness and inherent safety of the vehicle itself.
Clear view for this purpose may be achieved by:
1. spectacles, contact lenses, or a similar device used to correct any subnormal vision
2. a first-person view and a trained and competent observer who maintains visual line of sight of the drone UAV, can see through and around all of the airspace the drone is flying in, and/or maintain direct communication with the person who is operating the aircraft.
