Anti-dumping statute
An anti-dumping statute is a legal provision that allows a country or a group of countries to impose a duty on imports that are sold at a price below their normal value, in order to protect the domestic industry from unfair competition. Different countries and regions have their own anti-dumping statutes, such as the United States, the European Union, and the World Trade Organization. Anti-dumping statutes are usually based on the principles of fair trade, market economy, and injury assessment. In order to protect their respective economy, many countries impose duties on products they believe are being dumped in their national market because these products have the potential to undercut local businesses and the local economy.
