Speech organs

The various organs which are involved in the production of speech sounds are called speech organs (also known as vocal organs). The study of speech organs helps to determine the role of each organ in the production of speech sounds. They include the lungs, the vocal folds, and most importantly the articulators. Oral Cavity plays a significant role in determining the phonetic qualities of speech sounds. Larynx is an organ in the top of the neck involved in breathing, producing sound and protecting the trachea against food aspiration. Pharynx is a soft part at the top of the throat which connects the mouth and nose to the throat. Soft Palate or Velum is a movable part of the roof of the mouth in the human body. Tongue is the soft thing inside your mouth that you move and use for tasting and speaking. The upper lip and lower lip are two fleshy folds that are richly supplied with muscles. Nasal Cavity consists of all the bones, tissues, blood vessels, and nerves that make up the space inside the nose.
