Login

Login is:
- A name that you enter to be able to use a computer system.
- An act of entering your name to be able to start using a computer system.
- A place on a screen where you click (= press) and enter a name to start using a computer system.
- A program for Unix-like operating systems that allows users to log on to a system.[Бородкіна, І., Бородкін, Г.]
Asks for username and password. If the username-password pair is incorrect, login terminates, usually returning control to Getty.
If the authentication is successful, the login configures user environment variables, displays service information (last login date, copywrites), and starts the user shell.
Some shells offer a login function similar to the login program. [Молдованцов, О.]
