Digital Content

Digital content is any sort of data that can be represented, stored and transmitted through binary encoding universally used by computers to process information. [1, 461-463] Any piece of digital content can be stored on hard drive and random access memory, shared through network connection, processed by software and even be imprinted on hardware as firmware (the common example is BIOS).
There are different types of content that can be used digitally, including [2, 16-18]:
media: pictures, videos, audio, animation files;
executables: Windows Executables, shared objects, dynamically-loading libraries;
text: raw text, text formatted with various software (Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer);
other: fonts, OS images, portable intermediate representations (Java bytecode, LLVM bitcode).
