Survey method
Survey is a method of collecting primary verbal information, which is based on direct (interview) or indirect (questionnaire) socio-psychological interaction between the researcher and the interviewee (respondent). When conducting a survey, assessments, opinions, impressions, and hopes of an individual are recorded [Вербець, p.67]. The wide use of this method is due to its universality, ease of application, and data processing. The survey makes it possible to obtain information about the real state quickly and the actions of the respondent, as well as about his subjective thoughts, moods, intentions, views, and inclinations [Повідайчик, Жиленко, p.74]. The survey should be conducted in an appropriate logical sequence to achieve the set goals. First, it is necessary to define the survey's subject, topic, and purpose and formulate its tasks. After that, you should familiarize yourself with the secondary information that is available [Григорчук]. Researchers create a formal list of questions to ask the participants and may distribute it one-on-one, online, or in the mail [Indeed]. The following types of surveys are distinguished: focus groups, interviews, telephone surveys, mail-in surveys, panel sampling, online surveys, questionnaires, and documentation reviews [Indeed, Business research methodology].
The questionnaire method is one of the forms of survey. A feature of a questionnaire survey is the use of a printed or electronic questionnaire as a means of communication between the researcher and the respondent [Велика Українська Енциклопедія]. A paper survey is a more traditional data collection method and can easily result in data loss. Online surveys, on the other hand, are usually created via data collection platforms. One of the many advantages of online surveys is accuracy, as it typically records a lower margin of error than paper surveys. Also, online surveys are easier to administer as you can share them with respondents via email or social media channels [Formplus]. The questionnaire method is used to survey large groups of people who live in a large area. The questionnaire process is a regulated procedure carried out according to the research plan — from drawing up the goal, tasks, and stages to analyzing the collected empirical data and publishing conclusions and recommendations [Велика Українська Енциклопедія].
