Chemical environment
A chemical environment is an operational environment that includes chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats and hazards and their potential effects. Also called the CBRN environment (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear environment) [U. S. Department of Defense, p. 30].
A chemical hazard is any substance, regardless of its form — that can potentially cause physical and health hazards to people or can result in harm to the environment. It can also be defined as the actual risk associated with specific chemicals, such as skin burns, long-term negative impacts on health, lasting environmental damage, fires, or even explosions [Safety Culture].
