Aidman

Aidman is an enlisted person in a medical corps attached to a combat unit [Webster's New World College Dictionary, 2014].
Secondly, an aidman is a member of an army medical corps attached to a field unit [The American Heritage Dictionary of Medicine, 2018].
In military units, an aidman (except for medical ones) - a soldier, both full-time and non-standard, is assigned to provide first aid and evacuate the wounded. In the 19th century, according to Dahl, it was a person caring for the sick and wounded in the war [Соболевский, Селиванов, 1984].
Working as an orderly does not require medical training, but depending on the job, prior training in courses, short training, or other training may be required. In an allegorical sense, the aidman means a cleaner (“the wolf is the aidman of the forest”) [Даль, 1882].
An aidman provides emergency, routine medical care to all Navy and Marines service personnel. While there are various levels and areas of specialization within the ranks of Navy corpsmen, they are all expected to perform certain basic duties, including:
- Conducting physical examinations
- Maintaining records relating to patient treatment
- Serving as a technician in an operating room during both general and specialized surgeries
- Administering injections and other medications
- Performing emergency medical treatment to fellow combatants in the field
- Monitoring air, food, water, and habitation sanitary standards
- Providing basic health and wellness education to patients
- Teaching battlefield first aid skills [Career Guide].
